THE SECRET TO SUSTAINABLE SUCCESS AND HEALTH
One of my core values is GROWTH, and I loooooooove LEARNING and SELF-DEVELOPMENT.
What I've learned about self-development is... to grow we must DO and we must also DO NOTHING.
It's like exercise. We don't get stronger at the gym, we get stronger in the rest time in-between.
Say we do a bicep curl, we stress the muscle, which causes micro-tearing. If we keep on going we get weaker and weaker until eventual failure and even muscle rupture. Such as life. :)
When we rest the muscle in-between, the intuitive wisdom of the body goes to town, rebuilding and making the muscle stronger for an anticipated similar stress down the line, in order to better equipped. Such is life. ;)
Currently, we OVERVALUE ACTION and UNDERVALUE INACTION.
Essentially we're all weak biceps walking around ready to break! :(
Let's change that, shall we?!?!
THE POWER OF DOING NOTHING:
How do I implement the practice and power of inaction?
The Monthly Moon Cycle:
New Moon (day one) - Set an intention for the month. What do you want to accomplish?
Waxing Crescent (first week) - Clear out any distractions, tie up loose ends, clean house, plan, strategize.
Waxing Gibbous (second week) - ACTION ACTION ACTION!! Network, do the work, be social.
Full Moon (mid-way) - Shine a light on your shadow. What's in your blindspots? What are you ignoring that needs to be addressed in order to achieve your intention?
Waning Gibbous (third week) - Let go, release, surrender whatever is holding you back from being successful in your intention.
Waning Crescent (last week) - Trust. What is done is done. You've put it out there to the Universe, now it's about being patient and ready to receive it when it comes to you. Reflect. Celebrate your successes. What didn't work and why? What will you bring to the next month? What will you leave behind? Recharge. Focus on boundaries, introspection, and self-care.
The Yearly Seasonal Cycle:
**Northern-Hemisphere (opposite for Southern-Hemisphere)
SPRING: The beginning of the year. It’s time to set an intention. Begin to plan for what you want to grow for the year. It’s a time to declutter, and clear out things in the external physical world, and the internal mental/emotional world that you no longer need. Tie up loose ends. Seal up energy leaks. Check off the to-do list. Plan the year ahead. Research the “how” to make it happen.
SUMMER: Action time!! This is when we get shite done!! Early mornings, late evenings. Network, socialize, work hard… this is the time we have the energy to do so!!
FALL: Let Go. Think back to the start of the year. What are you committed to growing in your life this year? What is still in the way of this? Maybe it’s an old belief pattern that is holding you back? Release it. Maybe it’s a fear, insecurity or self-doubt? Let that go. You’ve leaned in and done the additive work in the summer, and now the fall is time to do lean back, do an assessment, and do the subtractive work. What can you get rid of to make things easier?
WINTER: Chill the F-Out! YAY!! What a year!! Time to celebrate! To reflect. To recharge. To focus on self-care, and filling up the energy tank so that we’re ready for the next spring! Go inwards. Say no to things, set new boundaries for yourself. You do you! This is a time to TRUST that everything that you want is on its way, and open up and ALLOW it to happen. Be ready to receive the rewards of your work.
